The Peking University-Lincoln Institute Center for Urban Development and Land Policy (PLC) and the School of Urban Planning and Design at Peking University, with Growth and Change, Journal of Regional Science, Papers in Regional Science, Journal of American Planning Association are pleased to announce that we are organizing a two-day workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China on June 28-29, 2013 at Peking University. The first International Workshop on Regional, Urban and Spatial Economics in China was successfully held in Jinnan University, Guangzhou in June 2012 and attracted more than 100 paper submissions. Two special issues have been organized for Journal of Regional Science and Papers in Regional Science, respectively. The objective of this workshop is to further increase the visibility of regional science, urban economics, and spatial economics in China and to develop a stronger research network for top-level China focused scholars. We particularly welcome submissions in the following themes:
Urbanization
Labor Migration
Land Development
Local Finance
Regional Growth and Development
Urban Housing
Urban Infrastructure
Industrial Agglomeration and New Economic Geography
Regional Transportation Networks
Environmental and Sustainable Development
Papers enriching understanding of urban, regional and spatial economics in China
For those who are interested in presenting a paper in the workshop, please send a note of interest as soon as possible to receive further details. Submit a draft of a paper or an abstract in English, to the following email address by February 1st, 2013: rusechina2013@plc.pku.edu.cn. Notification of acceptance will be sent out by March 1st , 2013 and a complete paper is expected by June 1st ,2013.
The workshop will bring together about 50 participants from China and abroad. Each presentation will be about 30 minutes in length with time for questions and discussions to provide constructive feedback for presenters. There will also be opportunities for authors, editors and scholars to interact, network and explore the possibility of developing joint research.
After the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to submit their papers for a special issue in Growth and Change. Editors with Papers in Regional Science, Journal of Regional Science, Annals of Regional Science, and Journal of American Planning Associations welcome your submissions for papers that better fit those journals. Those papers would be treated as general submissions by those journals. The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy will invite some participants to submit their papers as working papers, which will be posted in its web.
